On January 20, a Superior Court judge reinstated a $8 million jury verdict against Hyundai. A Vancouver man was paralyzed nine years ago in a car accident when he was ejected from his Hyundai Accent. He sued Hyundai, claiming that their seatback design was responsible for his injuries. Although the jury awarded him $8 million in damages, the Court of Appeals dismissed the verdict and required a new trial. However, after attorneys determined that Hyundai had withheld information regarding dozens of prior claims involving seatback design, the Superior Court judge reinstated the verdict and cancelled the new trial.
If you believe you have been injured due to a design defect, you should contact a personal injury attorney to discuss your options and rights.
