Shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2005 at least 30 cars were involved in nine separate accidents over a half mile stretch of northbound Interstate 5 near Arlington. The Washington State Patrol shut down all northbound lanes of I-5 for two hours after the accident. Traffic was stopped for eight miles to the south. Police investigating the collisions attributed them to a wall of sleet, rain and hail that moved suddenly through the area. For more information about the accident see the following story: Post Thanksgiving Accident Snarls I-5

Despite the number of cars involved, most drivers escaped serious injury and sufferied only bruises, cuts and abrasions. Even where injuries do not seem severe immediately after the accident, injuries such as cervical sprain and strain may not show for days after the accident. Nonetheless, these injuries are significant and require attention.

Individuals involved in the 30 car pile up should contact a lawyer if they suffered any injuries.
