On Saturday, November 12, 2005 a 21-year-old passenger was killed in a single car automobile accident near Oak Harbor. The accident occurred at 2:15 a.m. when the vehicle went out of control on a wet roadway while turning from Frostad Road Southbound onto Dugualla Road. The passenger was thrown from the pickup and killed. The vehicle’s driver was booked in Island County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide.
In addition to facing criminal charges, the vehicle’s driver may be civilly liable for the death of his passenger. If his insurance is inadequate to pay for the passenger’s death, the driver’s personal assets may be used to satisfy any judgment against him.
In situations like these it is important for the vicitim’s loved ones to contact a personal injury attorney in order to determine their legal rights.
