A head-on collision between a car and a truck seriously injured both drivers and shut down northbound traffic on Interstate 5 near Fife. The accident occurred when the truck driver swerved across the center line and hit the southbound car head on. The collision took place on Friday, January 6, 2006 at approximately 6:30 p.m.
The driver of the car was identified Allison Reed of Seattle. The truck driver was identified as Bradford Gzell. Ms. Reed was trapped inside her vehicle and emergency personnel had to extricate her. Both drivers were transported to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma for medical treatment. Ms. Reed and Mr. Gzell each sustained non-life-threatening head injuries. They were listed in serious but stable condition.
