Two men were killed and a passenger was injured in a head-on collision on Highway 2 between Sultan and Monroe. The accident occurred on Monday, January 2, 2006 at approximately 10:15 a.m. Authorities identified the drivers of the vehicles involved as Richard Montgomery of Monroe and Roy Griffin of Gold Bar. Mr. Montgomery was 56 years old and Mr. Griffin was 76 years old.
The dangers of Highway 2 are well documented. Only one week before this accident another head-on collision on Highway 2 near Snohomish killed a driver. There are no plans to widen the road or create an alternative route. More information about the dangers of Highwas 2 can be found in the following story: No Fix Looming for Dangerous Highway.
The accident occurred when Mr. Griffin’s westbound minivan crossed the center line and struck Mr. Montgomery’s eastbound minivan.
William Wicker, a 17 year old Monroe resident, was a passenger in Mr. Montgomery’s vehicle and was injured in the collision. Emergency personnel flew Mr. Wicker to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was in stable condition.
Accidents such as this one are tragic. Nonetheless, Mr. Wicker and Mr. Montgomery’s estate are entitled to compensation for their losses. It makes sense for those individuals who were affected by the accident to contact a personal injury lawyer as soon as possible.
