Plunkett was hit from behind while driving east on Terrace Heights Drive near its intersection with Terrace Park Way. Plunkett fell to the road and his bike landed nearby. He was taken by ambulance to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, where he was recovering from head wounds, a fractured pelvis and other injuries Sunday evening, a nursing supervisor said.
It is important to report any information you may have regarding a hit and run accident. The injured driver is a victim of a crime and may or may not have insurance to cover the cost of his medical care. While there are State programs, such as the Crime Victims’ Compensation Program, to assist hit and run victims, the fleeing driver should ultimately be responsible for the cost of the victim’s medical care.
