Jim Rogerson was hit from behind on his motorcycle by a suspected drunk driver late Thursday in Poulsbo. Mr. Rogerson, a resident of Port Ludlow, was struck by a pickup truck after 11 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Highway 305 and Lincoln Road. He suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Police said the man driving the pickup, Alan R. Caldwell, 30, of Kingston, had allegedly been drinking and was on a “beer run” from a social gathering when he hit Mr. Rogerson’s motorcycle.

Mr. Rogerson has a number of potential sources of recovery. In addition to filing suit against Mr. Caldwell and making a claim against his own UIM policy, Mr. Rogerson can also seek damages against the other persons at the “social gathering” based on a joint enterprise or joint venture theory of recovery.
